Parent and Family Newsletter

MARCH 2021

Dear Regis parents and families,

As we approach the midpoint of the spring semester, we reflect on all that has happened within our campus community. We know that the start of the semester was challenging as we experienced an increase in positive COVID cases. We have since seen incredible improvements and give thanks to our community members for doing their part in following our healthy and safety protocols. As we look ahead, Regis is planning on fully re-opening our Weston campus in the fall of 2021, with more information to be shared soon.

The beginning of spring also brings new signs of hope for what is to come. We see a growing number of students, faculty, and staff who are receiving vaccines; our student-athletes are beginning to practice in larger pods; we feel confident in our ability to safely offer more small in-person opportunities to socialize; and, our Commencement Committee remains hard at work finding meaningful ways to celebrate our seniors.

And while this has been a semester unlike any other, we are grateful for our community that has demonstrated resilience, extended grace to one another, and worked tirelessly to create memorable experiences for our students.

As always, we thank you for your continued partnership.

With Pride,

Anabella Morabito, MA

Assistant Dean, Student Affairs

New App for COVID-19 Protocol

We are incredibly grateful for the Regis community's continued compliance with the campus COVID-19 testing protocol. Our Health Services team is regularly evolving the testing operations to best meet the needs of our on-campus students, faculty, and staff. Regis College has partnered with CoVerified, an app that streamlines and better supports our testing communications, bookings, and tracking. Available for iOS, Android, and on the web.

CoVerified allows our community members to:

  • Book testing appointments
  • Receive notice of negative test results
  • Log and update their daily symptoms

Our testing center staff is available to provide additional information and answer any questions about CoVerified. You can also visit our Reporting and Testing web page or email questions to health.services@regiscollege.edu.

FAFSA® Reminder

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) is available for students and families to file for the 2021-2022 academic year. This is one of the most important forms to complete to be considered for the most financial assistance possible. Along with consideration for federal scholarships, grants, and loans, the FAFSA also helps students to be considered for valuable institutional funding. Our Office of Financial Aid has created a helpful FAFSA Guide that provides an overview of the process. Students are encouraged to contact their financial aid counselor with any questions:

  • Yolande Stephenson: undergraduate and graduate students with last names A-F
  • Logan Liberty: undergraduate and graduate students with last names G-N
  • Scott Hiller: undergraduate and graduate students with last names O-Z

Commencement 2021

President Hays sent a message to the Regis community in February regarding commencement, noting that we will honor our Classes of 2020 and 2021 on Saturday, May 8, with two separate virtual ceremonies. An update on commencement is forthcoming and will be shared with the community next week. We encourage you to visit our commencement web page for the most up-to-date information.

Student Support Groups

In addition to individual counseling sessions, our Counseling Services team is offering two support group opportunities for students this semester: Mosaic and Grief Support Group.

Mosaic is a supportive, confidential space where individuals can connect around gender and sexuality in a group setting. We welcome everyone - from those who are already members of the LGBTQIA+ community, to those identified as allies, and everyone in between. Students are encouraged to email Kristin Phelan to find out about meeting days and times, if they have questions or if they would like to obtain the Zoom link and password. Mosaic is meeting via Zoom at this time.

Our Grief Support Group is a confidential group where students can talk about their current lives and how losing a loved one has impacted them. The group currently meets via Zoom on Tuesdays from 5-6 p.m. Students are encouraged to email Dan Leahy with any questions.

More information about Counseling Services can be found on their webpage and on Regis Resources.

Nursing Students in the OR

Paging Regis College Nursing Students to the OR

Through a new partnership with Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a group of nursing students will complete a perioperative preceptorship this semester. The cohort will learn about the entire perioperative process from OR transport to scrubbing preparation to patient positioning on the operating table, allowing the students to serve as circulating nurses managing the care in the operating room. What makes this partnership unique is that rarely do nursing students or even recent graduates get the level of perioperative experience these students will. READ MORE »
